Overview
Aunt Judy’s Magazine; for Young People was a monthly publication for children. The magazine included short stories, poems, songs, book reviews, proverbs, and monthly reports from "Aunt Judy." Famous contributors include Hans Christian Andersen and Lewis Carroll. The magazine was designed to both instruct and amuse, and was highly moralistic in tone. It also “supported the Hospital Work Society (a children’s hospital) throughout its existence.”[2] Aunt Judy’s Magazine was able to contribute to the hospital through its readers, who would send money, toys, and other donations to help “Aunt Judy’s Magazine Cot,” which helped provide for the patient that resided in the hospital cot supported by the journal.[3]
