Not much is known about Massenius. He published multiple articles in a variety of magazines and he is often identified as Massenius, a German Jesuit, published at Cologne in 1657.[1] Occasionally he will be identified as living in Cologne rather than having published at Cologne.[2]

Massenius is mentioned in A Summary of Mosheim’s Ecclesiastical History and his writing style is briefly highlighted. It states that the Roman Catholics would “gloss over those doctrines of their church which were the most shocking to the protestants, by artful and specious explanations, and then to persuade the general adoption of them.” It goes on to state that Massenius followed this style of writing.[3]
