Title: Star Lore and Future Events
Editor: “Zedekiel”
Publisher: Glen & Co.
Star Lore and Future Events was a late Victorian and early Edwardian periodical, running from 1897 to 1903[1]. It was a monthly-issued periodical, until it became bimonthly in July 1898[2]. Its main focus was astrology, with charts of the moon, horoscopes on famous people, and articles on the field of astrology. It also dabbled in “foreknowledge, . . . global disasters, . . . [and] weather forecasts”[3]. Its editor was the mysterious “Zedekiel,” who apparently was also the editor of Zadkiel’s Almanac[4]. Authors of its articles were usually anonymous, except for a few signed articles and the “Correspondence” section, where extracts of letters from various readers of the periodicals were located. A question was asked that in the first issue of the periodical “We ask again: What have the literati gained by ignoring the mysteries of Indian and Egyptian temples – mysteries which enthralled the mighty intellects of Pythagoras and Plato?”[5]. This quote seems to emphasize the unconventional audience of the periodical.
