Title: The Windsor Magazine

Editor: David Davidson, A. Hutchinson, & D. Williamson

Publisher: Ward Lock & Co.

The Windsor Magazine was an illustrated monthly periodical that ran from January 1895 until September 1939. It ceased publication twelve days after the outbreak of World War II, stating that difficulties would cause the magazine to be suspended for a short while. It ran six monthly periodicals throughout the year, excepting a few issues, and was published by Ward Lock & Co. [1]  Although its target audience was both men and women, the bulk of the material was geared towards a male audience, where articles targeted towards women were limited to domestic topics. The journal meant to appeal to the middle-class, giving information on royalty to those with little access. Other article topics included short fiction, poetry, science, sports, and art. It avoided scholarly and frivolous fad articles while promoting patriotism. Its main purpose was to entertain the family rather than educate or promote a political agenda. [2] Contributors to the magazine include Arthur Conan Doyle, Rudyard Kipling, and Jack London.[3]
