Overview: The Dome seems to focus purely on the arts. In each issue of the journal, there is an “Architecture and Sculpture” section, a “Literature” section, a “Drawing, Painting, and Engraving” section, and a “Music” section. In each of these sections there are 3-6 items. In the “Literature” section, there are usually quite a few poems, one short story, and one play. The audience was made up of artists or those heavily involved with the arts. The journal seems to be focused mainly on aesthetics, and may even have a Pre-Raphaelite focus with artistic submissions from Dante Gabriel Rossetti. The journal also includes analysis of the works, artists, or mediums displayed in the issue. Thus The Dome serves not only as a periodical of art and literature, but also gives critiques and insights into the works featured.
